I had the opportunity of a flying visit to Portugal's capital between Christmas and New Year, and enjoyed experiencing Lisbon for the first time. Several things struck me. The buildings seemed often to be painted pink or yellow, and were very attractive by day. At night, the Christmas Lights were amazing, and coupled with the yellow aromatic smoke from the chestnut sellers, created very atmospheric scenes.
